Carla Tracy, editor of the Dining Section of the Maui News had never been to the South Shore Tiki Lounge, so we invited her to try our food and she quickly took us up on the offer. Some may look at our menu and think, “Oh, it’s just bar food.” But we are very proud of the little things we do to make our food a bit healthier and more gourmet than most. Sounds like Carla took notice!
South Shore Tiki Lounge won a silver ‘Aipono Award for Best Bar this past Friday at the awards gala! The ‘Aipono Awards recognizes the best in restaurant and culinary achievement and we were so proud to be among such fabulous company. The reception drinks flowed and phenomenal dinner impressed us all. Big love for everyone’s support.

We are stoked to announce that the South Shore Tiki Lounge received an invitation to the 7th Annual Maui No Ka Oi Aipono Awards. This prestigious event is the only of its kind on Maui, celebrating the best in culinary and restaurant achievement. We find out next week what we won at the awards ceremony gala, but we appreciate the recognition regardless. Mahalo to Maui No Ka Oi magazine and everyone that voted for us!

Congratulations to Chef Danny for a glowing food review in the March/April 09 Maui No Ka Oi Magazine. Our Mai Tai also made the cover of the dining section with the caption, “South Shore Tiki Lounge earns tropical cred with the tiki-licious Mai Tai.” Woot!
“Hot Spot: You’d expect the torches, and maybe even the fiery-eyed tiki spewing smoke from its gaping mouth. But it’s the health-conscious bar food that really excites. Those watching their cholesterol will applaud Chef Danny Paquette’s trans-fat-free friend goodies, like the rice-flour calamari on the Tiki Pupu Platter. The grilled sausage sandwiches can pack a spicy punch, so keep the light-as-a-feather french fries close at hand. Gourmet pizza (whole and by the slice), burgers, salads, and several vegetarian menu items round out the menu. With Happy Hour daily, DJs six nights a week, and a hip, picnic style atmosphere, it’s easy to see why this place has been a South Shore institution since 2002.” –Heidi Poole, Maui No Ka Oi Magazine
